Reports: MS Dhoni went against N Srinivasan to question Ravindra Jadeja's verdict

According to NDTV, it is learnt that Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has neglected ICC Chairman N.Srinivasan’s words, advising him not to object to the 50% match fine imposed on Ravindra Jadeja.

The Indian all-rounder was fined for a Level 1 offence, after the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) filed a claim against Jadeja for his alleged “aggressive” and “threatening” walk towards James Anderson during their altercation off the field on day 2 of the first Test match at Trent Bridge.

It can be noted that match referee David Boon had stated that he was not ‘comfortably satisfied’ in the 25-year-old’s original Level 2 charge, before handing out the penalty.

Jadeja’s appeal made by the BCCI, on what is now seemingly a push by Dhoni, is about to be overturned with Anderson likely to face a two-Test ban in the hearing that is about to be held on Friday.

The pacer was the Man of the Match in the third Test where England were victorious, and his fate will have a huge impact in deciding the series that is now locked at 1-1 with 2 games to go. The fast bowler’s case is supported by England’s witnesses Matt Prior and Ben Stokes who blame Jadeja for starting the controversy. However, with video evidence being available now, the case is expected to go against England’s premier fast bowler.
