Rohit Sharma reveals newborn daughter's name
What's the story?
'Hitman' Rohit Sharma has revealed his new-born daughter's name through a beautiful tweet much to the delight of Indian cricket followers across the globe.
Rohit, who was a part of the Indian Test squad that played against South Africa early last year, was dropped afterward owing to his poor form against the Proteas. Finally, he made the cut for India's highly anticipated tour of Australia comprising four Test matches. Though he featured in the XI during the first Test at Adelaide which the visitors won by 31 runs, he did not make a mark with the bat.
The Mumbaikar managed just 38 runs in that victorious Test before being ruled out of the second Test at Perth. Rohit, who hurt his lower back while fielding at the Adelaide Oval was left out of the XI for the second Test at the Optus Stadium.
Virat Kohli's men lost the Perth Test by 146 runs and the series was level at 1-1 before the traditional Boxing Day Test at the MCG. After being declared fully fit ahead of the Melbourne encounter, Rohit made a comeback into the Indian XI for the Boxing Day Test and scored a sublime 63* off 114 balls that included five boundaries.
The heart of the matter
After India won the Boxing Day Test by 137 runs, Rohit returned to India as his wife, Ritika Sajdeh gave birth to a baby girl. Rohit, who recently became a father took to Twitter to announce the name of his new-born daughter.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India announced that Rohit will join the Indian squad on January 8, when the team begins its preparation for the One-day International series starting on January 12.
With the limited-overs reckoning, Rohit might unleash his best in the three-match ODI series. Watch out for 'Hitman' when he dons the famous blue jersey during the first ODI at the SCG on January 12th.
