After India lost the first wicket in came Virat Kohli, but he departed for a duck as a result of a miscommunication with his partner, Rohit.

Virat's wicket did not stop the run flow as Rohit Sharma was relentless with his strokes. Rohit also had luck on his side that day.as he was dropped by Moises Henriques when he was on 120. He went on to become the third batsman to a score an ODI double century. Rohit was aided by MS Dhoni in helping India post a huge total as the two added 167 runs off 94 balls for the fifth wicket.

During the chase, India kept on picking up wickets at regular intervals but Maxwell's quickfire 22-ball 60 gave a glimmer of hope. After the wicket of Maxwell fell, it was Shane Watson and James Faulkner who kept Australia in the game. While Watson got out after a 22-ball 49, Faulkner went to make the then fastest century - off 57 balls - by an Australian. In spite of Faulkner's outrageous hitting, Australia lost the match by 57 runs, thanks to Rohit first double century.
