Rohit Sharma's father hails record-breaking knock against Australia, claims marriage is lucky for him

Rohit Sharma came up with a special knock in Perth in the 1st ODI

Rohit Sharma started the ODI series against Australia in pristine form, scoring a memorable 171 in 163 balls, which helped India reach the formidable total of 309. His effort, though later turning out to be in vain, as the Aussies overhauled the target in the 50th over, scaled several records on course to carrying his bat in the 1st ODI.

Rohit’s 171* was the best performance in ODIs by any visiting batsman in Australia, and his father Gurunath Sharma believes his recent marriage was responsible for this golden touch.

"He batted extremely well today. There was a control in his batting. The way he started batting, it felt that he will play good and he displayed good cricket," Rohit's father Gurunath Sharma said.

Gurunath, who feels that Australian wickets are difficult to bat on, hopes that Rohit will continue to play like this.

"I hope he will continue to play like this in the remaining matches. It is really difficult to play in Australia due to bouncy pitches, but he played well. I am extremely happy," added Gurunath.

This is Rohit's first tour after marriage and his father also believes that his wife proved to be lucky for him.
