Former BCCI chairman Sharad Pawar has made it clear that he does not want to return to the Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) any more.

Pawar, the president of the Mumbai Cricket Association, instead suggested that he will support people like Shashank Manohar to take the office of the cricket board.

After the Supreme Court asked N. Srinivasan to step down as the board’s president, Pawar expressed disappointment over the image of the game being tarnished.

“When I was the BCCI chairman or Shashank Manohar became chairman, we took everyone together and ran the BCCI in a way that improved image of the game but now that image has been tarnished,” Pawar said.

Pawar also criticised N. Srinivasan and said: “When we ran the BCCI, we distributed power whereas Srinivasan tried to consolidate power only in his hands which brought cases of conflict of interest. That’s why matters went to the court. Whatever has happened is not good for cricket.”

While Pawar welcomed the decision of the Supreme Court to appoint Sunil Gavaskar as the interim BCCI president, he also suggested that people like Shashank Manohar should take charge when the next elections take place in September.

“When such people will be in charge of BCCI, they will bring honesty and integrity to the organization,” Pawar added.
