South Africa vs India 2018: Statistical preview of the 1st ODI

Ever since the historic 1991-92 ODI series between the two teams, India and South Africa have been close competitors in the white-ball domain, even the Proteas have a significant upper hand when it comes to overall statistics, winning 45 out of the 77 ODIs between the two sides, as opposed to India's 29.

# In the last eight completed ODIs between the two sides, the winner has kept alternating.

# Shikhar Dhawan has failed to score more than five runs in five of his last seven ODI innings on away from home. He did go on to post 49 and 132* when he did get beyond five on the other occasions, however.
