5 Things Team India should focus on to keep up the current pace of Indian Cricket

India v Sri Lanka - ICC Champions Trophy

Indian cricket is undoubtedly enjoying its current wins and the fame that is coming with it. The great successes of the Indian cricket team have touched new heights and have set new records one after another. With its excellent game and hard work, Team India is the number one team in the ICC Test rankings.

What's behind this Glory?

Winning a match is not only done by a player or a team, but a lot of other factors and figures are responsible for it. Sharp captaincy, superior guidance, proper team management, and commendable teamwork create the recipe for success.

2017: What Stats have to say?

Indian cricket's 2017 season kicked off with India winning an ODI and a T-20 series against England. India also reached the final of the Champions Trophy held in England in June. In July, India won against West Indies and Sri Lanka in all three formats of the game. Next up was a limited-overs, 4-1 win against Australia and a 2-1 win against New Zealand. In the recent test match, India scored a record win with an inning and 239 runs against Sri Lanka. The figures seal the success of India and establish the fact that Team India is seemingly in its best form right now.

What's required to keep up with success?

Although the team is celebrating its triumphs, some concerns are sure to rise along with it, which if noted down and worked upon, will sustain the current success rate of Indian Cricket Team.

#1 Better Scheduling

India v Pakistan - ICC Champions Trophy

Virat Kohli, after the Nagpur test, reminded BCCI that the team needs better scheduling of matches. Looking back at the last few months, team India has been continuously playing continuously since July. Keeping this in mind, what Kohli said seems to be a perfectly valid point.

It should be noted that after finishing this series with Sri Lanka, Indian Team immediately has to go to South Africa for a two-month tour.

#2 Rest for key players

Australia v India: 3rd Test - Day 1

As stated earlier, India have been playing continuously, and some key players were part of all the tours that happened this year.

Given that, a break is something they truly need.

It's general knowledge that playing regular matches without proper rest will degrade the quality of the game of a player. Watching live games constantly and another and cheering for your favorite team might sound exciting to a fan, but is surely is not good for the players. In fact, it is exhausting.

Henceforth, proper rest must be given to the player and the team so that they don't get injured due to the extra stress on their body.

#3 Giving opportunities to youngsters

ICC World Twenty20 India 2016:  India v Australia

All the players of team India seem to be fit and energized. The team is quite young and their spirits are high.

However, along with many big names playing for the team, some new players shall also be given a chance to show off their talents on the field. Experimenting with the team not only makes the team better, it also increases the chances of finding a new and better player.

The best teams in the history of the game have had one common factor amongst them: unmatchable bench strength. If India wish to continue their dominance, they must ensure that they retain the quality of their entire squad and not just the playing 11.

#4 Proper management and coaching

India Training Session

The whole Kohli-Anil Kumble saga was a controversial incident and it came to an end with a dramatic turn when Ravi Shastri was announced the head coach of Indian Team. Shastri took Kumble's place in August this year, when India traveled to Sri Lanka for a full-fledged tour.

Sure Kohli and Kumble had their differences and there is no point getting into that again, but the unexpected exit of Kumble was really unfortunate, considering the success India had enjoyed in his stint.

Team India could do better on the overseas tours with high-quality guidance. No one can deny the role of coach and the team sure does need mentoring. Keeping this in mind, attention must be paid to this area as well.

#5 Keep a tab on the captain's aggression

India v South Africa - ICC Champions Trophy

Virat Kohli has already proved himself as a captain and now he has now embarked on the road to make his name as one of the most successful captains in the history of the game.

However, this brilliant player has crossed the line and this has happened more than once. He is known for his exceptional skills as a batsman. But he is also equally famous for his perceived brashness on the field.

To keep the team winning in the coming matches, Kohli must include the entire team in the decision-making process and keep a rational head through tough situations.
