#2 Mushfiqur Rahim 144 vs SL, 2018

1st Momentum ODI: South Africa v Bangladesh
Mushfiqur Rahim strode into the record books with a stunning fightback

Lasith Malinga, returning after a year-long hiatus looked to be reducing the opening match of the 2018 Asia Cup into a no-contest. By the time he was done bowling the first over of the tournament, Bangladesh was already reeling at 1/2. At this crucial moment, in walked Mushfiqur Rahim.

He lost Tamim Iqbal to a fractured hand soon, and Bangladesh were effectively 3/3. Mushy went about steadying the ship first- building a century partnership with Mithun. Once that was broken- by whom? Malinga, of course- he struggled to find a suitable ally but continued on his way, taking Bangladesh to a respectable total.

At 229/9, with the 'Keeper batting on 112, Tamim Iqbal strode out with a broken arm. He kept out one ball holding the bat in just one hand. After that Mushy took over, slamming 32 off the next 14 balls, and never risking Tamim again.

In the end, Bangladesh's 261 proved to be too much for Sri Lanka, as they failed to even match up with Rahim's 144; getting bowled out for 135.
