Top 5 T20 players who do not have a T20I hundred

Eoin Morgan
Eoin Morgan, unorthodox but succesful in T20 cricket

When T20 cricket was introduced it was thought to be a batsman’s game. And they have not disappointed either. There have been willowers who have scored a bagful of runs in the format with their innovative shot-making and yet many have also scored in a heap batting traditionally. Bats have become much fatter and wider nowadays and that is a prime reason why the batsmen get full value for their shots with even edges flying into the stands.

But in such a short format it still becomes difficult for players to get to a triple figure score, here in the list we look at batsmen who have been prolific run-getters in T20 s but an international century in the format has still been quite out of reach.

#5 Eoin Morgan

The England limited overs captain has wowed the fans worldwide with his range of innovative cricketing shots. He has been quite a run-getter in domestic T20s with 4255 runs from 199 games with a strike rate of 128.86. But in the international scene he has not lived up to his gigantic reputation.

From 63 games he has collected 1446 runs with a highest score of 85 not out. He also has seven international fifties to his credit. Eoin Morgan first made his T20I debut against Netherlands in 2009 and it is 2016 now, and a T20I century still eludes the left-hander.

#4 J.P Duminy

A left-handed batsman who has been playing all around the world in different T20 leagues and has been quite successful at that. JP Duminy is the player that a captain would trust to get in and grab some quick runs when a team is in deep trouble and his record speaks for it.

The South African has 5137 runs from 210 domestic T20 matches with a strike rate of 122.28. But the left-hander has never scored a T20 international hundred. He has 1654 runs in from 70 T20I games with an average of 38.46 and a strike rate of 123.61.

#3 David Warner

David Warner
Warner has been a prolific run-getter for Australia

He has captained the Australia side in T20s and has been sensational for them in all three formats. Whenever his side have been in trouble he has tried to deliver the goods and most of the times he has done it successfully. The brilliant stroke maker has amassed runs in plenty in T20s but then again he has never got a international century even though he has done it five times in domestic matches.

He has a whopping 6868 runs in domestic games from 220 matches. But internationally from 61 games he has 1633 runs. Recently he captained Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad to the title by leading them from the front with his batsmanship.

#2 AB De Villiers

He is one of the finest batsmen to have ever played the T20 format. Be it the scoop or the cover drive he is adept at both. In the format he has seldom failed to set fireworks with his batting but still he has never reached a ton in T20 internationals. The South African has scored 5390 runs in 216 T20 domestic games and 1037 from 71 internationals with a highest score of 79 not out.

De Villiers will always be remembered for his shot-making in one of the IPL games where he blasted countryman Dale Steyn for 23 runs in an over. For those of who does not know, the right-handed batsman is a fine rugby player and golfer too and can play the guitar.

#1 Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli
Kohli has been India’s top order talisman

Well! This comes as a big surprise! The India limited-overs captain has been instrumental for his side’s success in the last few years. In the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year the maestro grabbed four hundreds, but surprisingly he has not yet scored one in the international circuit. In domestic T20s he has scored a whopping 6461 runs from 206 games. But in international games he has 1657 runs from 45 matches with a highest score of an unbeaten 90.

The Indian talisman was stupendous for India in the World T20 too where he almost single-handedly drove his side to the semi-finals. In the semis too he fought valiantly to get his side to a challenging total of 192 but then the West Indies overhauled the target to knock them out.
