Controversial New Zealand cricketer Jesse Ryder has got in the news more for his off field antics than his cricket in recent times, which is a shame considering he is a cricketer blessed with enormous talent. He is well known for his destructive ability with the bat in hand, but what he wasn’t so known for was his sharpness in the field. He pulled off a stunning run out off his own bowling against Northern Districts in a T20 match with complete nonchalance.
James Foster, the non-striker, tried to sneak in a quick single after the batsman facing only managed to keep out the yorker on the penultimate ball of the 19th over. The alert Ryder collected the ball and hit the bull’s eye with a pin-point throw. Even a full length dive from Foster was not enough to save him with him being well short at the end.
