D. N. Pathirana, Sri Lankan TV Umpire for a match between Sri Lanka and Australia had his share of bloopers as a TV umpire in the match. Pathirana took an unusually long time when making up his mind in three of the four run out decisions with the first three causing an awkwardly long buzz of expectancy.

Parihana took his time of about 3 minutes to decide that although Kaluwitharana had dropped the ball and Adam Gilchrist had made his ground before the stumps were broken, that the Australian had been dismissed and had no trouble what so ever in sending him back to the dressing room.

Although the records will credit Mahela Jayawardene and Romesh Kaluwitharana Kaluwitharana for the dismissal, it would not have been possible with umpire D. N. Pathirana, who made one of the most bizarre decisions ever made by a TV umpire.
