Watch: Quinton de Kock misses stumping because of a bee

In a bizarre turn of events, on the second day of the fourth and last Test between Australia and South Africa, Quinton de Kock missed a stumping off Keshav Maharaj's bowling as he was, surprisingly, stung by a bee.

In the 31st over of Australia's first innings, Shaun Marsh, batting at 15, went down the ground trying to drive Maharaj but the ball straightened and he ended up missing it completely. As De Kock bent down to gather the ball, it struck his left pad and rolled down.

The wicketkeeper, instead of trying to save the run, was seen holding on to his left arm. To everyone's surprise, the replays showed that a bee had stung De Kock on his upper left arm and the 25-year-old was trying to take the sting out.

The missed chance didn't cause much harm to the Proteas though, as the elder of Marsh brothers could add only a run before being dismissed by Maharaj himself. South Africa's physiotherapist Craig Govender then came on and attended to the wicketkeeper.

Wanderers, previously, had a match halted after bees swarmed the pitch. South Africa were playing Sri Lanka in the Pink ODI, when in the middle of Lanka's innings, players were forced to lie flat on the ground because of the bees. They eventually had to leave the ground and professionals were called on to remove the insects.

Australia, at lunch on day three of the match, are reeling at 201/7 in reply to South Africa's first innings total of 488. Skipper Tim Paine, who is playing with a broken thumb, is at 47 while Lyon has added four runs in his short stay at the crease.
