WATCH: Ravindra Jadeja does signature sword celebration after getting to 50 in Sydney Test

What's the story?

After getting to his fifty in the Sydney test, Ravindra Jadeja did his signature celebration in which he wields the bat like a sword. The Indian all-rounder eventually scored 81 from 114 balls before being bowled out by Nathan Lyon.

The background

India continued to rub salt on Australia's wounds on the 2nd day of the 4th Test as they kept piling on the runs at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). The Indian batsmen were just simply unstoppable. After Mayank Agarwal's splendid 77 on Day 1, Cheteshwar Pujara came close to making a double century on the 2nd day but the batsman made 193 from 373 balls at a strike rate of 51.74.

Initially, Hanuma Vihari supported Pujara exceptionally well as he made 42. However, the wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant stole the show when he came in to bat.

Jadeja, along with Pant, went on to have a massive partnership of 204 runs for the 7th wicket. This is India's all-time 6th highest Test partnership for the 7th wicket and highest 7th wicket partnership in Australia. Pant scored an unbeaten 159 with a phenomenal strike rate of 84.13, also becoming India's first wicketkeeper to score a century in Australia.

The heart of the matter

One moment which the Indian fans will cherish from this test was Jadeja's sword-wielding celebration after reaching his half-century. It is right up there in the best of the best celebrations. The crowd would certainly have gone berserk had he done this in India. The celebration still ignited a lot of hooting from the spectators present in the stadium.

The commentators even went on to joke that Jadeja actually wanted to be a professional swordsman.

Captain Virat Kohli declared the innings after Jadeja was dismissed. India's final score in the first innings was 622/7 in 167.2 overs. There was still time for the Aussies to come out and bat on the 2nd day as Marcus Harris and Usman Khawaja opened the 1st innings for Australia and they are currently at 24 without losing a wicket after 10 overs.

What's next?

India now have the upper hand in the 4th Test. It is now up to the Indian bowlers to replicate the exploits of the batsmen and come out all guns blazing on the 3rd day of the test.
