What's the story?
In yet another incident involving an umpiring decision this domestic season, Umpire CK Nandan's delayed decision to give Vidarbha captain Faiz Fazal out in the ongoing Irani Cup left everyone surprised on the field. The incident happened in Vidharbha's first innings with the bat after they had restricted Rest of India to 330 runs earlier on in the match.

Having won the Ranji Trophy this year, Vidarbha bowled well to negate the good start by the Rest of India batsman to bowl them out for 330 runs on the board. Faiz Fazal and Sanjay Raghunath came out to open the innings for the Ranji Champions and did well to put on 50 runs on the board before this incident took place.
The details
In the 21st over of the match, Faiz Fazal was facing Karnataka lad Krishnappa Gowtham when he edged a delivery to wicket-keeper Ishaan Kishan. It was a clear deflection and everyone in the ROI squad including their skipper Ajinkya Rahane was involved in a loud appeal.
However, umpire CK Nandan was unmoved and Faiz Fazal waited for the decision from the umpire. After an unusually long period of time, Nandan lifted his finger and asked Faiz Fazal to leave the crease. Fazal was understandably bemused as the umpire had taken a really long while to give his decision.
Fazal's knock of 27 runs from 65 deliveries came to an unfitting end as the play resumed.

Vidarbha posted a score of 425 runs on the board thanks to Akshay Karnewar's maiden century. Rest of India negated Vidarbha's 95-run lead as they stood at 102-2 at the end of Day 3.
Hanuma Vihari and Ajinkya Rahane are at the crease and will look to pose an imposing total on day 4 to give a strong target to Vidarbha.
