Dave Cameron, the President of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) said on December 23 that they are edging closer to an agreement which could see them belatedly complete their 2014 tour of India which was controversially abandoned.
West Indies cricket chief confirmed that following discussions with his Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) counterpart Shashank Manohar, that the West Indies will host India in the Caribbean in 2016.
However, this new agreement is subject to the WICB and the West Indies Players Association (WIPA). A WICB statement said, "Giving a joint commitment to complete, at a later date, the tour which prematurely ended in October 2014".

The WICB chief said, "Cricket remained the centerpiece of our discussion and we are happy to be at this juncture."
The West Indies cricket team walked out of their 2014 tour of India, after the fourth one-day international in Dharamsala due to a sour argument over player contracts, leaving the BCCI “shocked and disappointed”.
The tour was originally scheduled to consist of three Test matches, five One-Day International matches, and one Twenty20 International match.
In the aftermath of the tour being abandoned, BCCI said they would chase a claim for $42 million in repayment from the impoverished WICB.
On the day of the commencement of the series, the West Indies players threatened not to come to the ground unless they were paid their due amount by the WICB. After a BCCI intervention, the WICB promised to pay their players and the series started On 17 October 2014.
During the toss time, West Indies ODI captain Dwayne Bravo brought the entire team with him and announced that they are abandoning the rest of the tour because they didn't receive their promised payment from the WICB.
Later, the BCCI confirmed that the remaining fixtures of the tour after the 4th ODI game had been cancelled due to an ongoing tussle between the West Indies players, the West Indies Cricket Board and the players association.
As a result, India won the four-match ODI series 2-1. Indian pacer Mohammed Shami was awarded the Man of the Series trophy after he took 10 wickets in four matches. Virat Kohli was India’s highest run-getter of the series with 191 runs.
