Tekken 7 may be getting a huge story mode sometime in the future. The game currently has no story element, which is a bit disappointing for players who complete all eight stages only to discover that there are no cutscenes or background story.
According to many Japanese gamers who have completed the arcade game, the end credits start to roll once the final boss, Kazumi Mishima, has been defeated. This was confirmed by a recent gameplay footage uploaded by one such gamer who managed to fight through all eight rounds. As for the boss, Kazumi doesn’t say much when confronting the player. Even after she is defeated, she merely falls to the ground and the game ends.
When asked by a fan if the game will have a story mode with a lot of cutscenes, Bandai Namco’s Katsuhiro Harada replied via Twitter that he was “Planning a lot”.
It is likely that he means the console version of Tekken 7, which is sure to have a story mode. In one of his previous tweets, Harada described the games story as being very “dark”, proving that there is indeed a story mode in development. The games story will focus on the Mishima family and will be the final chapter in the Mishima saga. It is quite possible that one of the Mishima characters may be killed off.
Bandai Namco has been quite tight lipped about the console version of the game so far, but most fans are sure that it will be out sometime in the future. Tekken 7 will be releasing on March 18th in arcades across the globe.
