The only thing common between all the games in the series is the fictional town of Silent Hill. Except for the foggy streets of the resort town, each entry tells separate stories with a few homages and Easter eggs here and there. Thus, you can dive into the Silent Hill 2 remake without having any prior knowledge of the series.

The Silent Hill 2 remake will take you to a mysterious town where you will follow James. Like other games in the series, he must face his demons and explore the enigmatic resort town filled with horrifying abominations.

The remake brings significant upgrades compared to the 2002 release. Aside from the entire game being developed from scratch with modern graphics, it is now a third-person shooter like Capcom's Resident Evil, compared to the original title's fixed camera angles.

Bloober Team has also reworked the janky combat of the original, which is more in line with any modern third-person shooter with a survival horror twist akin to the modern Resident Evil titles.
