The only thing common between all the games in the series is the fictional town of Silent Hill. Except for the foggy streets of the resort town, each entry tells separate stories with a few homages and Easter eggs here and there. Thus, you can dive into the Silent Hill 2 remake without having any prior knowledge of the series.
