Stardew Valley is one of those rare games that have a massive community that loves the game so much that they invent new ways to express their affection. Currently, inventing new ways to kill Grandpa in the game's intro is one of the newest trends in the community. The old grandparent who showed up at the start of our journey in Stardew Valley is being shown new ways to heaven in this trend.

Mods in Stardew Valley are not new. There is a dedicated page on Nexus Mods for various Stardew Valley mods that add new places, NPCs, dungeons, and much more to the game. But none are like the Grandpa Death mods. These mods are extremely simple but the effects that they have on the game experience are crazy.

Currently, there are many Grandpa Death mods out there on Nexus Mods, which is both absurd and hilarious. Here are some of the funniest ones I found:

Grandpa was having a rough time. Joja offered him an escape.

With the rise of Grandpa Death mods, many players joked that Stardew Valley is having a “dying grandpa renaissance". The joke has gone so far that there have been new mods popping up that straight out remove Grandpa from the intro. There is also a ‘Robin tricked you as Grandpa to buy buildings’ mod that swaps Gradpa’s sprite with the NPC Robin.

My favorite mod to come out of this joke is definitely the “Grandpa-less bed” mod. In this mod, Grandpa is not dead but missing. It appears simple at first, but this mod opens up many possibilities. For example, what happened to Grandpa? Was he kidnapped by aliens or other mythical beings, or did he become a victim of the ongoing war? Alternatively, did he lose his mind and become Linus? The possibilities are endless.
