Before Bethesda announced their upcoming sci-fi game Starfield at last year's E3 2018 conference, there were rumours floating around that the studio might be working on an unannounced Game of Thrones game. Sadly though that didn't turn out to be the case. That doesn't mean I'm not excited for Starfield. I actually can't control my excitement for that game. But yes, now when I think about it, Bethesda still creates one of the best open world game experience and they would be the perfect studio for creating a world as of that of Westeros to be freely explored according to the player's will.

Player freedom is BGS's first priority and it would be amazing to see Bethesda recreate their own version of The Seven Kingdoms of the Westeros. Player's nameless character which they could create the way they like could freely explore the open world of this gigantic place.

Political tension has played a major role in BGS titles and the main plotline generally tends to focus on the player character deciding to join one of those factions. In Game of Thrones, players could choose to side with anyone the nine great houses and lead that house to the Iron Throne.

As of now, this all seems like a distant dream as Bethesda is totally engrossed in updating Fallout 76 and developing Starfield and Elder Scrolls 6, which are planned for the next generation of console. However as it seems BGS have expanded to four studios as of now. Alongside its headquarters in Rockville, Maryland, they now have studios in Austin, Montreal as well as Dallas. Since Bethesda likes to switch developments between their pre-production and post-production titles, who knows that the rumor regarding the Game of Thrones game might just be true.
