Players within online matches in Madden 21 will typically utilize one of two broad categories for a QB. The first is a QB that is dangerous in the pocket, and less focused on mobility, as they are meant for efficient passing. The other category is QBs that can pass, but are also highly mobile and are fantastic at running.
When playing others online, running QBs are going to be prevalent, and at times, they will be frustrating to play against. They can't be taken on like the first category of QB in Madden 21. They need to be QB contained, and doing that is relatively simple.
How to QB Contain in Madden 21
QB containing in Madden 21 is something that needs to be done on every snap in order to utilize the mechanic. On PlayStation 4, R1 must be tapped twice fast in order to set the contain. On Xbox that would be RB. Hitting that will tell the defense that a run play from the QB is coming and they need to watch out for a QB scramble. The defense will then adjust, as long as the buttons are hit before the snap. Again, this must be done on every play that it seems like the QB might run.
Of course there are going to be more than a few QBs in Madden 21 that players need to look out for when it comes to scrambling and running. Or on the other end, those players may want to utilize the fast QB selection. There are some QB picks in particular that fill that running QB slot well.
The best overall is going to be Lamar Jackson. The Ravens QB has proven his prowess in the NFL as both an efficient passer and a great runner. His 96 speed rating makes him an incredibly dangerous QB that any player is going to need to look out for as an opponent. QB containing will be a must with him.
Right behind Lamar Jackson is Kyle Murray with a 91 speed rating. He may be 5 points behind Lamar Jackson, but a 91 rating for speed, on top of his passing stats, is no joke. He's another QB that will most likely require remembering to use the QB contain mechanic.
Taysom Hill is the third QB in the lineup of the fastest QBs in Madden 21. He sits at a 90 speed rating with good acceleration as well. Of course there are more options to choose from, but those three QBs are going to be the ones to watch out for and QB contain in Madden 21.
