Ed Boon premiered the Mortal Kombat 11 reveal trailer at the 2018 Game Awards this year. Fans have been eagerly awaiting some news regarding the game's roster and have begun speculating who could be appearing when it drops in 2019.

Recently, Todd McFarlane revealed that Spawn was "on his way" when asked if the legendary 90's comic hero was joining the MK Universe.

Not much is known about Netherrealm Studio's next installment, though, aside from the fact that it will feature Scorpion, Raiden, and Shao Kahn, although the latter is a pre-order bonus. Aside from that, and supposed leak that predicted the Game Awards trailer, not much is known about the roster quality or size of Mortal Kombat 11.

However, it seems we may have just gotten some confirmation on two iconic characters. Best Buy's online pre-order page for MK11 revealed that the Lin Kuei cryomancer Sub-Zero and the White Lotus Society warrior Liu Kang would be available.

The listing for MK11 originally read, per Event Hubs, "A packed roster full of legends and contenders, including Liu Kang, Sub-Zero, and Raiden, go head to head in this fight for the future of the realms." The site has since edited the description.

The leak mentioned earlier and the ending to Mortal Kombat X hinted at a story involving Liu Kang and Kitana, who at the end of the last game were the new rulers of the Netherrealm. With Best Buy's accidental reveal, it looks like we'll more than likely be seeing that story play out. How Sub-Zero will play into the story mode, we'll have to wait and see.

Though, I'm hoping we'll see the rise of the Lin Kuei as a faction, possibly including Frost. However, at this point, it's all speculation.

Mortal Kombat 11 releases on April 23, 2019, for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Microsoft Windows.
