Black Myth Wukong finally confirmed for Xbox Series X/S: Release date, time and more

Game Science has announced that Black Myth Wukong will finally be released for the Xbox Series X/S on August 20, 2025. The action-adventure RPG by the Chinese studio was one of the biggest games of 2024, selling over 10 million units within the first week of its launch. However, the game was only available on PCs and PS5s.

While the Xbox Series X/S version was initially planned to be released alongside the PC and the PS5, it was ultimately delayed due to certain issues. But now Game Science has stated that the game will come out for Microsoft's console later this year on August 20, 2025.

Black Myth Wukong was one of the biggest launches of 2024 and was even one of the contenders for the Game of the Year title of last year. While it did not win the award, it was still one of the biggest successes, especially coming from a relatively new studio.

The game initially came out for the PlayStation 5 and the PC, and although it was supposed to come out for the Xbox alongside those platforms, it was eventually delayed. Game Science has announced recently that Black Myth Wukong will be released for the Series X and S of Microsoft's consoles on August 20, 2025, at 12:00 AM Beijing Time or August 19 @ 9:00 AM PT.

Pre-orders for the platform will begin later this month on June 18. Similar to the release time, you will be able to pre-purchase the game for the Xbox Series X/S on June 18 at 12:00 AM Beijing Time or June 17 @ 9:00 AM PT. Game Science has also announced that a discount will be available for the game's digital version on the following dates:

PlayStation™Store: June 18 – July 3
Microsoft Store (Pre-order Discount): June 18 – July 11
PC (Steam & Epic Games Store): June 20 – July 11

It is still unclear if Black Myth Wukong will be available on the Xbox Game Pass, but more announcements regarding that might be made down the line ahead of the game's release on the Series X/S.
