Oumi Janta is a well-known influencer with over 45k followers on TikTok. She recently announced on the social media platform that she may be intending to sue the developer of Genshin Impact for allegedly copying her dance moves. In the above footage, Oumi showcases the leaked Xilonen idle animation side-by-side with footage of hers.
Players can see the similarity between the dance moves of Oumi and Xilonen from Genshin Impact, with many reaching out to the former about her dance being possibly copied by the gaming giant or inquiring if she was paid for it.
While Oumi acknowledges in the video that dance moves are not owned by anybody, and are thus not legal grounds for suing, she suggests that based on the hand movements of Xilonen, HoYoverse may have used a body scan of her, which could hold water.
As of now, Xilonen is yet to be released in Genshin Impact and she is scheduled to debut on the first half banners of version 5.1 on October 9, 2024. Currently, Oumi's legal team has advised her to wait for the character's release, considering the leaked idle animation may not be in the game. She said:
"Me and my team figured out that it's not online and maybe this video is just a leak or it's a teaser but it's not in the game. So if it's not in the game, I can't do legal steps."
However, the influencer has asked her fans to notify her if the idle animation of Xilonen is present in the title once the 5.1 update is released. In that scenario, Oumi expressed that she may wish to sue HoYoverse in over 80 countries.
