Pokemon Go: Dialga Raid is now available

Pokémon GO

Pokemon Go developers Niantic has officially announced that there will be a raid for Sinnoh legendary Pokemon Dialga in March. Between March 1 and March 28, players will be able to go on a raid to fight the Steel/Dragon type legendary. Be sure to get your Fighting-type and Ground-type Pokemon to the raid!

Pokemon Go released the raid for Dialga's counterpart Palkia a month ago. Niantic has been slowly releasing Generation IV Pokemon from the Sinnoh region over the past few months. They even had special events and Community Days such as the Swinub one where players could get additional Sinnoh Stones to evolve into the Generation IV Pokemon Mamoswine.

Some Pokemon, mostly legendaries, can only be caught in special battles called Raid Battles. Raid Bosses spawn at Gym locations and players use Raid Passes to enter the battle. You can get Raid Passes by visiting and spinning Gym Location photo discs or you can purchase one using real money inside the app. Players can only hold one Raid Pass at a time.

Palkia and Dialga in the Pokemon lore are said to be the legendary Pokemon responsible for the creation of space and time respectively. Sometimes I find it to be a little weird how you can take a regular Pokemon which has a type advantage to defeat the lords of time and space, but then I remember it is a children's game (adults can enjoy it too!).

With many Generation IV Pokemon being released and played in the game, almost all of them are available to capture in the game. We can probably expect Niantic to slowly start introducing and releasing Generation V Pokemon (which started in the Unova region). There are probably still more exciting updates and releases we have yet to see, so let's see what Niantic releases.
