Niantic has announced an update last night that featured the release of several new Sinnoh Evolution Pokemon. For those who have not played that far into the Pokemon series, Pokemon introduced several new evolutions of previous generation Pokemon in their Diamond and Pearl series.

Some say these additions are a lack of creativity from the Pokemon company, but the evolutions are also pretty nifty additions to Pokemon that were much weaker in their original form. Here are some of the evolutions that were added:

  • Lickilicky - Evolves from Lickitung (Gen 1)
  • Tangrowth - Evolves from Tangela (Gen 1)
  • Ambipom - Evolves from Apom (Gen 2)
  • Yanmega - Evolves from Yanma (Gen 2)
  • Mamoswine - Evolves from Piloswine (Gen 2)
  • Gallade - Evolves from a male Kirlia (Gen 3). Gallade is parallel to Gardevoir (Gen 3)
  • Frosslass - Evolves from a female Snorunt (Gen 3)

There were also baby Pokemon Happiny (evolves into Gen 1 Chansey) and Mime Jr. (evolves into Gen 1 Mr. Mime) which were added. You will need to have a Sinnoh Stone if you want to evolve your Pokemon into these Gen 4 Pokemon. They are pretty hard to find and they don't come around easy!

Additionally, Niantic has announced that they are balancing move sets that will affect players in Raids and Trainer Battles. There is also a Palkia Raid that was added recently.

In a nutshell, Raid Battles will be made harder so that single players won't be able to complete the full thing on their own. There have also been reworks on several Fast Attack moves for Trainer Battles. New moves have been added for several Pokemon such as Dragon Tail for Arbok, Meteor Mash for Clefairy, Flamethrower for Houndoom (why wasn't this there before?!) and more.
