PUBG: How does PUBG Mobile Matchmaking Work?
Highlight: No the matchmaking does not care only about the player's Tier!
PUBG Mobile has its own unique ranking system and ELO/MMR mechanism. In other games, a team shares the same fate, however, in PUBG Mobile the players get end game rating according to their performance, not on the team's performance.
If you're reading this, it means you have played a few or more PUBG Mobile games and you are either interested or irritated about the PUBG Mobile matchmaking mechanism.
Millions of players play PUBG every day and the game has a very complex ranking system. As expected, Solo, Duo, and Squad have a different ranking but the game even sets your rank different on each server. You have different ranks for TPP and FPP even which is also separated by Servers.
This can create more problems than solution. How? If PUBG matchmaking is based on tiers then it is supposed to be broken. Because a player who has Crown in Asia server will have bronze V in Europe, as a result even though he is a highly skilled player he will be matched against bots and new players. Which can be unfair to the new players.
Another reason, is that after a season gets over and the ranks drop, the matchmaking may become complicated. If a crown player drops to platinum chances are he will wreak havoc in the lower tier and that will be very unfair to the lower tier players as they will die early and get negative ratings.
But to save the day, PUBG already thought about it and created a matchmaking system that will not ruin the gaming experience of new players.
PUBG Mobile matchmaking does not only take one's tier into account. Tiers play a huge role but it is not the only factor that decides the matchmaking. To be more obvious, PUBG matchmakes on the basis of Skill level.
Yes, the matches get tougher and tougher as your rank increases but it's not because of the tier. If you have reached diamond from Bronze that means your tier has increased but your skills did too.
The first factor that is affected by the tier is the BOT factor. Higher your tier is, fewer bots you will have in your game. This means no more free kills for you in the early game to boost your Kill Rating. After a certain point, there are no bots at all and all of your enemies are real humans. Note that bots are only included in the game to make the matchmaking faster. Servers like ASIA can find you games where there are no bots at all.
Your tier decides how many bots and how many real players you will face but it does not decide who you will match against.
