The Hoarder's Hunt is scheduled to begin on Thursday, May 11, 2023, with the event's first stage called 'Skin of Gold.' The first set of clues will be available on the game's official website. Players will have to search "the obscure corners of the internet," decipher the clues, and submit the answer keyword on the Sea of Thieves website.

Those who do so correctly and stumble upon the answer will get their hands on an in-game voyage that will be given to them by Larinna. The blog post stated that completing the Voyage would finish that stage of the Mystery.

The Hoarder's Hunt mystery will be comprised of the following stages:

• A Feathered Fortune
• Portrait of Plunder
• The Crowning Glory

"The final Stage will see pirates who’ve solved every step thus far embark on a fraught and frantic race to obtain a special in-game golden key. This key is required to complete the Mystery – with the first eligible pirate to propose and successfully complete the last Voyage bagging the headline prize."
