Speculations are rife that the Battletoads would be making a comeback on the Xbox One.From the trademark being updated, to Phil Spencer sporting a Battletoads T-shirt at the Windows 10 event, now we can confirm that the fan favourites are making a much anticipated return to the Xbox One, but may not be the way everyone wants it to be.
The Xbox One version of the Yacht Club Games’ amazing 2D platformer, Shovel Knight will feature Battletoads in some way.It seems that they would be playable charachers, as the game has never been hesitant in offering up alternate skins for the players to use.Still the cross-over has not been explained fully by the developers.
The characters are exclusively available on the Xbox One version of Shovel Knight, as they are owned by Rare(owned by Microsoft).The exclusive characters might be a possiblity for the PlayStation, Wii, 3DS and PC in the future.
But the biggest question lies on the matter whether this is a full comeback for the toads or a beginning for a new chapter ahead.As Battletoads has achieved huge acclaim in the past, a complete reboot is necessary now.Maybe Microsoft will sit up and take notice depending if the fans react well to this news.
