The 10 Best PS4 Games of All Time

FromSoftware
FromSoftware

PS4 is entering its end of the lifecycle as the rumours and news of the next PlayStation starts to creep up.

I feel strangely connected to my PS4 and as much as I'm excited for a brand new console generation to emerge, I feel its incredibly hard to let go of my PS4, maybe its because its the very first console I got at launch, or maybe because it has a beautiful collection of games that I personally love and cherish a lot. Of Course, I'll continue to use my PS4 for many more years to come but irrespective of that, Today I just wanted to relieve and think about my best adventures on the PlayStation 4 so far.

#10 Fallout 4

BGS
BGS

I hadn't played a Fallout game before this but I had complete faith in BGS since I played Skyrim and it became my favourite game of all. And so I was on cloud nine when Bethesda finally announced their next game.

Fallout 4 is probably one of the most addictive games I have ever played.

Every little system in the game rewards you for anything you do and that makes it so fun.

The main storyline which involved siding with different factions made me take some strange decisions in the game, it's numerous creepy and classy locations such as "Good Neighbour", it's funny side quests such as being the Silver Shroud, it's crafting system which I should say is the best I have ever seen in any game, Upgrading weapons and armours and giving them funny names made me more connected to them than I ever thought.

Building settlements at the most isolated and unexpected locations was an adventure of its own, not to mention I always failed to protect them at the right time.

The game's collection of retro country tracks which I ended up singing along almost every damn time made Fallout 4 a magical experience for me.

Something we can only expect from a BGS game.

#9 Uncharted 4

Naughty Dog
Naughty Dog

Whenever I think of any of the Uncharted Games, Greg Miller's statement from IGN's review of Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception pops up in my head.

"Uncharted 3 is the reason I play Videogames".

I would just like to say that Uncharted as a series is something a reason that I play Videogames.

Uncharted 4 made me feel like Nathan Drake, from beginning to the very end of his over the top action drama being converted into a family affair.T ill the epilogue, which I should say is hands-down the best segment of the game, I couldn't let go of my controller.

Nate and Elena's story is one of a kind, and so are equally important in this story are Sully and the newbie Sam, Drake's brother.

The game's tight and precise gunplay, jaw-dropping visuals, the humorous and sleek performance by series Veterans- Emily Rose, Richard Mcgonagle and of course Nolan North made my heart wrench when the credits rolled, they had become a family of mine in this 10 years of long journey, a family I'll always look up to.

#8 Dishonored 2

Arkane Studios
Arkane Studios

Dishonored 2 is amazing. A game that I was awestruck and amazed every time I played.

It looks artistically perfect and twisted, just like every level in the game is.

Emily Kaldwin grew up to be a person I could relate to a lot.

She's not a perfect person, not a perfect Empress, struggling with her personal life and responsibilities, Dishonored 2's tale sometimes felt too sci-fi and gibberish but overall it was good.

It was actually never about the story, but the moment to moment experiences from the skillfully crafted gameplay and I can proudly say they made up for some weird and crazy experiences I have ever had in a game.

#7 God Of War(2018)

Sony Santa Monica
Sony Santa Monica

God of War is a tribute to every other single player game out there.

It is so bold in its vision, so firm in it's gameplay, so picturesque in its visuals and so strong in its storytelling and characters that there's no beating this game.

In other words, God Of War has finally matured and I, I can't wait for the game's next entry.

From its Levithian Axe slaying every entity in the game, to every little story told by Memir-The smartest man alive, to every silly yet fun Dad-son conversation between Kratos and Atreus, and to that subtle orchestral - Norse inspired soundtrack which even now I can't get out of my head.

God Of War is a living proof of how a modern single-player video game should be.

#6 Horizon Zero Dawn

Guerrilla Games
Guerrilla Games

Every so often in our life, something entirely new and beautiful barges in.

Horizon Zero Dawn was that something for me.

It had this exciting new world begging to explore, It was one of those games that I had no idea what to expect and certainly till the end of Aloy's main storyline in this post -post Apocalyptic world, my expectations were not discouraged.

I'll just go ahead and say it- Horizon Zero Dawn tells the most unique and beautiful story ever in a Videogame. Aloy proudly stand beside every PlayStation icon with her own pride and dignity.

#5 The Witcher 3

CD PROJEKT RED
CD PROJEKT RED

Do I even need to say anything about this?

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is probably the best role playing game I have ever played.

It tells a very serious tale with its equally serious and interesting characters.

It's lively and dynamic world was and still way ahead of its time in the video game industry.

Geralt of Rivia's last journey is beautiful and a terrible ride of love, betrayal, war and humanity.

Witcher 3 is as human as it is dreamy.

Every hour I Spent exploring Novigrad's darkest alley looking for Triss, taking in the countryside of Oxenfurt, every moment I spent with Yennefer over the Skellige mountains or every beast I slew after tracking it down carefully, times I spent in Passiflora for warmth(don't tell Yen) is something I hold very close to my heart, memories that will always be vivid in my mind.

#4 Red Dead Redemption 2

Rockstar games
Rockstar games

I'll be very honest here and let me get two things very clear.

I haven't yet played RDR 2; I don't need to play it to judge it.

Rockstar games have proved every single time that they are the best.

I'm not the type of guy who believes too much in the reviews or scores a game I received but since I haven't played the game yet I need to rely on that just this time.

RDR 2 currently has a Metacritic score of 97/100, making it the highest rated video game of this generation. It currently stands at 9th position as the top-rated video game of all time.

That aside, RDR 2 is a game enough for me to jump into because of John Marston.

Marston, the protagonist of the first Red Dead Redemption is a former outlaw and a man, almost every one of us can relate to. Since RDR 2 is a prequel, it focuses on the lives of John Marston, Dutch van der Linde and the other gang members and outlaws of the modern American Era, when the wild west was on the verge of dying.

Enters- Arthur Morgan, the new antihero/ Protogainst of RDR 2 who is the right hand of Dutch in his new gang.

How their story evolves throughout the game is still a mystery and I'm trying to stay away from all the possible spoilers but I know very well no doubt that Rockstar games definitely creates a benchmark in storytelling and open world genre yet again from their newest instalment in the Red Dead series, one I can't wait to get lost into.

#3 The Last Of Us: Remastered

Naughty Dog
Naughty Dog

I played The Last Of Us on my PS3 back in 2013 and got my mind blown.

I played The Last Of Us: Remastered on my PS4 this year again and got my mind blown further to an extent that I couldn't believe was possible.

The Last Of Us is one of the best Videogame ever made.

A testament to how far we have come in storytelling and character development in video games.

It's a story about hope, about trust, about love and at the end about survival.

A game where every bullet shot counts, every whisper of your footsteps that might lead to your death, every beautiful view you encounter, every person you lose and ultimately what you become till the end when the credits rolls, the rollercoaster of emotions running wild through your mind when the game ends and to every serene moment in between, The Last Of Us is everything and more.

#2 Resident Evil 7

Capcom
Capcom

Resident Evil 7 is everything a survival horror game should be.

I was scared and worried and panicked and tensed at every step I took in the Baker family's mysterious mansion full of secrets and creepy locations to discover and jump scares to deal with.

Resident Evil 7 surprised me at every corner, from its calm beginning to every encounter I had with the three of the different members of the Baker Family and the disgusting moulders.

The fact that I felt vulnerable throughout the game wasn't just because the game was so scary but because Ethan Winters- The protagonist of the game felt so vulnerable.

He was just another random guy trying to find his lost wife in an unknown house with absolutely no clue what to expect.

He wasn't a rookie cop or an agent just like other Resident Evil characters.

He was an ordinary guy and so I connected with him a lot because I felt it wasn't him there, but me.

Resident Evil 7 is a masterpiece, a game with probably the best pacing I have played in a long long time, a breath of fresh air among all the big huge open world games, most importantly its Capcom's return to form, the glory they once lost.

#1 Bloodborne

FromSoftware
FromSoftware

There is no other game developed this generation that could take the place Bloodborne has in my heart, not even Bloodborne 2 when and if it comes out.

You see, Bloodborne came out very early this generation and I was wonderstruck with the fact that how gorgeous it looked and how amazingly well my PS4 handled it.

Besides its jaw-dropping artistic gothic castles, Bloodborne's world was so unique and weird and crazy to explore, not to forget that it was probably the hardest game I have ever played, atleast that's what I felt in the beginning hours. It took me 8 hours to get past the first two bosses. My hands sweaty, my mind running faster than bullet trains and my confidence burning faster than a candle on a windy night.

When I slept, I dreamt about strategies to kill a boss, when I woke I was playing the game. Bloodborne had completely taken over my life and it took me, to be precise about 79-80 hours to finish the game on my first playthrough and what an achievement it was.

Through its Dracula like castles, to its cryptic vague environment storytelling, to its incredible boss battles and to it's tight and precise combat-which spoiled every other game for me even the Witcher 3, makes Bloodborne probably my all time favourite.

There's nothing I don't like about this game, and there's absolutely nothing I would change about it either.

Hidetaka Miyazaki is a mastermind and this game is just a depiction of one of the finest art he has ever crafted.
