The upcoming Legend of Zelda for Wii U might be the largest entry in the Zelda franchise yet. In a recent interview with Gamereactor Magazine, Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma explained more about the new Zelda title, as well as the upcoming Majoras Mask remake. According to Aonuma, the team has tried to make “a large world” for every new Zelda game, as far as the hardware will allow it. So fans can expect the next Zelda entry to be even larger than its predecessors.
"A huge, seamlessly unfolding world is something that can't be achieved if the hardware isn't advanced enough," Aonuma stated. "Ever since we made the very first generation of Legend of Zelda games though, we've had as large a world as can be realised with the hardware, so you could say it was inevitable that we've now done the same with the new Wii U title."
With the latest Legend of Zelda entry, the team hopes push the boundaries of the Wii U by creating a massive game world that players can explore. Aonuma hopes that the new game will run flawlessly on the latest Wii U console.
"What's changed now is that the hardware has progressed to the point that you can now explore this vast world seamlessly.”
Many RPG titles that were released for the Xbox 360 and PS3 boasts of massive worlds for players to explore, and with the Wii U being slightly more powerful than these systems, it is likely that the world of Legend of Zelda could be even larger than that of Skyrim. Even if this isn’t the case, it’s very likely that the game map will be large enough to keep open world RPG fans satisfied.
The first footage for The Legend of Zelda for Wii U was revealed at last year’s E3, impressing fans with its amazing cel shaded graphics. We will probably be hearing more about the game at this year’s E3, so stay tuned.
