Top 5 PS3 games on the PS4

PS3 was my first console and my favourite so far.

It blew me away with the stunning visuals it offered for its time, stories that it told me, adventures it took me upon, and countless sleepless nights it gave me.

To this very day, I still adore my PS3 and switch it on time after time.

Unfortunately, not everyone could enjoy the magic of PS3 as many users shifted from Xbox 360 to directly on the PS4, as well as some new young gamers who just got into the console gaming often complain that they missed out on a lot of stuff from the last generation.

Thankfully, some of PS3's most precious gems got ported into the PS4 and so today I just wanted to get onto such titles which were developed for the PS3 but also graced it's newer sibling.

#5 Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection

Naughty Dog

Uncharted is the reason I play Video games.

Uncharted is one such a gem of series that first left its mark on the gaming industry back in 2007 with the release of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.

It told a story of a young fortune hunter called Nathan Drake, a self-proclaimed heir of the legendary Sir Francis Drake who was a pirate and a treasure hunter.

Uncharted Drake's fortune blew us all away with its picturesque graphics, jaw-dropping set pieces and action sequences, and interesting characters though it came with its limitations.

That was pretty much solved with its 2009's sequel which was Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

This game is still till date is considered one of the best game ever made and I completely agree.

These two, along with the 2011's Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception which is also an amazing game of its own is available on the PS4 as the Nathan Drake collection for you to buy right now.

#4 Heavy Rain

If you don't know, Heavy Rain is a crime thriller interactive action adventure game developed by Quantic Dreams. A Paris based independent studio, currently making games for the PlayStation consoles.

Heavy Rain is a unique take when it comes to storytelling in video games.

It puts you in the shoes of 4 different characters, each vastly different from the other as they all are linked to a mysterious origami killer responsible for taking out small kids of the city.

Heavy Rain is a dark game which portrays such strong emotions through its stunning visuals, neon street lights, cold damp weather, it's intertwined complex narrative and its beautifully crafted score that got me hooked for its 10 hours long campaign without a pause.

It's extremely bold take towards delivering a video game in which the game never ends, and the player character can die for real as the story goes on is so extraordinary and astounding that this game is a must play for everyone.

Thankfully this game, along with Quantic Dream's another big cinematic game- Beyond Two Souls is available together as the Quantic Dream Bundle for the PS4 now.

#3 God Of War 3

Santa Monica Studios

Before he was a Father of a Boi, Kratos was a very angry god who slaughtered( because killing would be an understatement) other gods of his realm for revenge and redemption which he probably never got.

Even though 2018's re-imagining of the God Of War is now considered the best God of War game till date, I personally still love God Of War 3 for what it was.

And that was a fast-paced hack and slash action game with stunning visuals, sleek combat, interesting level designs, and clever puzzle design and an okayish story which I never really cared about.

What really stood out above all was God of War 3's pacing which was just perfect for a game.

It wasn't very big nor small and the game ended when it was supposed to be.

It's not like the new God Of War doesn't do all the above but it lost some key features of the game which I personally loved and what I believe made the game stand out.

For those who haven't played it yet, God Of War 3 Remastered is out now on the PS4.

#2 Grand Theft Auto V

Rockstar Games
Rockstar Games

Grand Theft Auto V is probably one of those games that define the PS3 era of gaming.

Released back in 2013 for the first time, GTA 5 looked almost surreal on the PS3.

As if setting a benchmark with its visuals wasn't enough, GTA 5 gave us one of the best open world sandbox location to explore ever in a video game.

Featuring three different switchable protagonists and the best set of missions ever in a GTA game, Grand Theft Auto V went to become the fastest selling entertainment product in history.

In 2014, GTA V was released on the new generation of consoles, featuring better resolution, upgraded visuals, and a first-person mode.

So if you still haven't played the game, now is a great time.

#1 The Last Of Us

Naughty Dog
Naughty Dog

The Last Of Us is the best video game that graced the PS3.

It was and still a benchmark as for how much far we have come in the narrative and storytelling in the video game industry.

As strong as its storytelling is, The Last Of Us offers an equally tensed and rewarding gameplay experience with its tight combat and survival mechanics.

In short, The Last Of Us is a masterpiece which shouldn't be missed by anyone.

A remastered version of the game is now available on the PS4.
