Caterham to race in Abu Dhabi - Administrators

Caterham F1 team will return to the grid in Abu Dhabi, administrators of the Leafield based team have conformed.

The British team went into administration last month amid a dispute beween new owners Engravest and former boss Tony Fernandes.Since then, the administrators have launched a ambitious £2.3 million crowdfunding project to make it to the final round of Abu Dhabi, having not raced in US or Brazil.At the time of writing, the team had met 79% of the target. It is believed that some investors have filled the shortfall.“We set ourselves a major challenge, but it’s definitely been worth it! In only a week the fans have made the impossible, possible," the administrators said in a press release. "We knew that the best way to keep this team alive and attract possible buyers was to show that it’s still a racing team and be in Abu Dhabi for the finale, and there aren’t enough words to say how grateful we are to all the fans that have made this possible."It remains to he seen which two drivers will be behind the wheels of the CT05 at the Yas Marina Circuit. Marcus Ericsson cut all ties with the team after they went into administration while the more experienced Kamui Kobayashi doesn't bring a budget with him - something the team is actively looking for.

British female racer Alice Powell had shown her intention to drive in FP1, provided she qualifies for a super license.
