After a recent meeting of the World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) on Friday, Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has confirmed that there will 19 races in the F1 calendar this season.

At first, the 20th race was scheduled to be an European venue, most likely Turkey or France. But in the end, Bernie Ecclestone finally admitted that there will be only 19 races in the calendar this season.

A consequence of the FIA’s decision to have just 19 races this season is a three-week gap between the German and the Hungarian Grand Prix in the middle of the season.

The WMSC have also hinted that the ongoing Concorde Agreement negotiations were proceeding positively and is likely to be concluded very soon.
