Robert Kubica earned the first victory of his WRC2 career when he won his class at the Acropolis Rally in Greece.
He won by 1:29.8s from Yuriy Protasov after dominating the competition in Greece. He led from the opening stage, and at one point, even had a two minute lead before bringing down his pace to ensure victory.
Kubica is driving a Citroen DS3 RRC in WRC2 this year, with hopes of returning to the top level of motorsport.
The ex-Formula One star, who finished sixth on his WRC2 debut in Portugal, couldn’t have been more happy about how much he has improved since.
“Finally, after a disappointing period with my mistakes and car failure, today is a great day,” he said. “I think the best thing is that I learned a lot here. These are completely opposite conditions to what I’ve been used to for the last 20 years.”
