The Silver Arrows dominated on the streets of Monte Carlo, with Nico Rosenberg topping every session and leading the race from start to finish.

This performance was the exact opposite of the previous race that took place in Spain where after locking out the front-row in qualifying, both Mercedes cars went backwards in the race, with Rosberg eventually finishing sixth and Hamilton a lap down in 12th as the team struggled to make their rear-tyres last.

Lewis Hamilton has echoed Mercedes’s fears by admitting that the team’s Monaco performance was a lucky stroke and he expected Mercedes’s tyre-wear problems to return during Canada GP.

“Monaco is one of those tracks that doesn’t really hurt the tyres very often,” Hamilton said.

“With good management you can look after them, so I wouldn’t really say we have made a step forward. The problems we had in Barcelona, we’ll still have those going forward until we make some improvements.”

Nevertheless, the 2008 World Champion also confirmed that the team is in high spirits after four pole positions in-a-row.

Mercedes Motorsport Director Toto Wolff sent out a message along the same lines when he said that Mercedes should keep their expectations in check ahead of the Canada GP.
