Eddie Jordan, former Formula 1 team owner and now a BBC commentator has fuelled the rumours that Lewis Hamilton has signed a deal for 2013 with the Mercedes AMG Petronas team. Eddie Jordan also said that Michael Schumacher will be retiring for the second time at the end of this year.

But, both the Mercedes and Mclaren team have denied reports that Hamilton is moving to Mercedes. Instead, Lewis Hamilton’s management firm XIX Entertainment has claimed that they are on the verge of signing a new contract with Mclaren.

Here is what both teams had to say:

“We have been told by Lewis Hamilton’s management team that the story is untrue,” said a Mclaren spokesperson.

The spokesperson also added that negotiations with the 2008-champion are ongoing and in an advanced stage.

Mercedes team have also responded to the reports and here is what they had to say:

“Until we are in position to confirm our full driver line-up for next season, it is inevitable that there will be speculation around this topic.”

“We would ask for your understanding, however, that we do not comment on speculation.”
