Michael Schumacher out of coma, has left hospital

Michael Schumacher

Finally some good news for Schumi fans! The former F1 driver from Germany is out of coma and on his way to a full recovery from a life threatening injury.

Schumacher’s manager Sabine Kehm gave out an official statement today.

“Michael has left the CHU Grenoble to continue his long period of rehabilitation. He is no longer in a coma. His family would like to expressly thank all physicians, nurses and therapists in Grenoble, as with the first responders at the scene, who have done an excellent job in these first months, “she said.

“The thanks of the family also go to all the people who have sent Michael so many good wishes. You have certainly helped him. Going forward, we ask for your understanding that his further rehabilitation should take place outside of the public purview,” she added.

The German driver is now able to communicate with his wife Corinna and his children. He can hear voices and responds to touch. His condition is stable enough that he no longer needs the help of specialists in Grenoble.

The 7-time F1 World Champion crashed on December 29, 2013 in the French Alps in Meribel while skiing. The head injuries he sustained lead to a coma and the recovery process took longer than expected.

Here’s hoping Schumi starts leading a normal life soon!
