Red Bull has reportedly asked for a Formula 1 Superlicence exemption for Arvid Lindblad, their F2 driver. The FIA is set to discuss it next week. If approved, Lindblad will be able to race in Formula 1 for Red Bull or Racing Bulls. Reacting to this, fans took to social media to share their reactions.
Lindblad is a British-Swedish racing driver who is currently competing in F2 for Campos Racing and is a member of the Red Bull junior team. A thorough performer in the junior categories, Lindblad came into the limelight after he became the youngest F2 race winner in Jeddah following his victory in the Feature Race.
In addition to this, Lindblad also completed his first F1 test in February this year, where he drove the AlphaTauri AT04 at Imola. So far in F2, Arvid Lindblad, the 17-year-old prodigy, has won two races, three podiums and a pole. He is one of the favorites to win the championship this season.
As a result of his impressive performances, the Christian Horner-led team requested FIA exempt his Superlicence limit. If approved, the Austrian team can put him as a replacement for Max Verstappen, if the four-time world champion receives a race ban due to penalty points.
According to a rule set by the FIA, no driver can apply for the Superlicence until he is 18 years old. This rule was put in place after Verstappen entered F1 as a 17-year-old in 2015, and from then on, every driver has had to be 18 years old to gain a Superlicence.
As Red Bull's request to the FIA regarding Lindblad has surfaced on the internet, fans took to social media to share their reactions. Here are some of them taken from the micro-blogging site X:
Reacting to it, a fan wrote, "Adios Yuki [Tsunoda]"
"Well Yuki it’s been good knowing you," another fan wrote.
"Different rules for Red Bull," a fan wrote.
Another fan wrote, "#RedBullCheats always asking sth from FIA"
"Max Verstappen successor," a fan wrote.
"Nice. Fresh blood for the second Red Bull car. It's tough to sate the beast's hunger," wrote another fan.
The FIA will decide Arvid Lindblad's exemption at the FIA's World Motor Sport Council in Macau next week.
Red Bull's Max Verstappen is at risk of facing race ban after Spanish GP
Following his collision with George Russell at the recently concluded 2025 Spanish GP, Max Verstappen received three penalty points. This took his total penalty points to 11, and he is one short of 12 (the bar for a race ban).

This means one more penalty point, and Verstappen will be out of a race, following which his penalty points will be reset once again. In such a case, Red Bull will not try to leave the RB21 blank and reportedly will put Liam Lawson or Isack Hadjar as his replacement.
The ban will not only be a big blow for the team but also for Max Verstappen. The Dutchman, who is a contender for the title this year, will lose his footing further, and his dream to claim a fifth F1 title will be dealt a big blow.
