Pierre Gasly was surprised to learn Charles Leclerc's one-stop strategy

After the 2023 F1 US GP, Pierre Gasly shared that Charles Leclerc came up to him before the race to ask whether he was also going for a one-stop race. The Alpine driver said no and was confused about why Leclerc was going for a one-stopper. After the race, Gasly stated that he went with a different strategy and had a good race, but was able to see the frustration in the Ferrari driver's face because of the strategy choice. Speaking on F1TV, he said:

"No, I wasn't. The first time it came up was when Charles came to see me on the grid and said, 'You also going for a one-stop?'. I was like there was no **** way that I was going for a one-stop. Then we looked at each other because at that time I was a little confused with what he was saying. But it turned out well. I think we did the best strategy we could and from his face after the race I don't think he really liked that one-stop strategy."

Pierre Gasly finished sixth in the race at Austin, while Charles Leclerc was disqualified due to excessive plank wear on his car.
