Talking to Formel1.de, Russell said (via GP Blog):

"No, it's not certain. Nothing is certain. But if I stay with Mercedes, next year will be my fifth year with the team. Nobody knows when their time will come. You just have to make sure you keep performing consistently and keep delivering. And what happens then—that remains to be seen."

Interestingly, Russell was recently linked to a shocking move to Aston Martin. According to The Times, the Brit has emerged as a person of interest for the Silverstone-based squad.

Aston Martin has Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso signed for the 2026 season. However, new speculations have stirred things up. But George Russell is yet to either confirm or deny these rumors.

The 2026 season is huge in terms of new engine regulations. Hence, all teams are likely gunning to have the best drivers' lineup possible.
