Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton once shared that he believes in religion and faith deeply and prays often. The seven-time world champion has been racing at the pinnacle of motorsports since 2007 and has maintained the highest level for 18 years and that has yielded him great results.

The 39-year-old is known for his never-say-die attitude on the track and raw speed with loads of experience. Off the track, he remains one of the most popular and outgoing drivers in F1. The British driver has dipped his toes in the fields of fashion, entertainment, and business, apart from racing in F1 at an extremely high level.

Behind his outgoing personality, Hamilton remains rooted in Catholic religion and faith in his private life. Making an appearance on the first episode of the "Beyond the Grid" podcast, released in July 2018, the Mercedes driver spoke about religion and its influence on him. Hamilton said,

“You don’t have time to pray. Anything can happen any day, but I feel God has his hand over me. You have to make time for things and every morning I have breakfast and before I eat, I pray. Every time I eat, actually, I pray. So, whether it’s a couple of seconds, a minute, or whatever you are praying for, take that moment. Everyone is talking, and I say, ‘Sorry, one second’ and you just make the time.
“One Sunday, for example, I couldn’t wait because I‘m going to church. Wake up, get to church, and then have meetings afterward. I go with a couple of my close friends, we meet, we go for breakfast and then we go to church together. We leave most often feeling enlightened and empowered, it’s like a re-centering."

Lewis Hamilton has continued to taste success on track as he turns 40 next year and has continued winning races in his final year with Mercedes.

When Lewis Hamilton spoke about F1 "breaking him"

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton once said despite giving him everything in his life, Formula 1 has "broken him" and "built" him repeatedly.

In his appearance on the "Beyond the Grid" podcast, the Brit said:

"F1 has also broken me… it’s broken me and built me, broken me and built me. When you go through it, you put so much into it, it breaks your heart and kills you when you fail, when you stumble when everyone’s watching when you stumble.
"But, when you get back up and when you succeed, it lifts you up. You fall and you break a bone, you heal and you keep going. It’s the passion for what you do and the will to succeed."

Lewis Hamilton is in his 18th year in the sport and has experienced the highest of highs and the lowest of lows in that time. Perhaps his roughest patch, where he failed to win a race in more than two years, lasted from the end of the 2021 season till the middle of the current season. However, he found a way to successfully navigate his way back to the top step of the podium and is currently in sixth place in the drivers' standings.
