F1 fans were left fuming after Aston Martin driver Lance Stroll went into the back of Daniel Ricciardo during the safety car period at the 2024 Chinese GP.

The Canadian driver seemed desperate to move ahead after the safety car restart and make some positions. However, he was unable to stop his AMR24 as he went just before the safety car came into the pit lane.

Due to the collision, Ricciardo was sent up in the air from his rear end and lost half of his diffuser, which proved costly and meant that he had to retire from the race.

For his involvement in the incident, Lance Stroll was given a 10-second penalty by the stewards which he served after a couple of laps and went back to the grid in P18.

F1 fans took to the social media platform, X, to give their reactions to the crash, with one saying:

"Stroll just full-on drove up the back of Ricciardo, stop analyzing it. it's obvious."
"Lance Stroll catching Daniel Ricciardo off guard by just rear ending him for no reason," wrote another fan.
"Daniel Ricciardo just cannot catch a break. Lance Stroll just strolled into his diffuser ending his day. No pun intended," claimed another fan.

Daniel Ricciardo provides his view on new chassis at the Chinese GP

Daniel Ricciardo stated that he could feel the difference of having a new chassis at the Chinese GP as he finished P12 in the qualifying session on Saturday. Ricciardo has notably been ahead of teammate Yuki Tsunoda throughout the weekend.

As per Motorsport, the RB driver said:

"It feels like a more normal weekend. I would say from the get-go, from yesterday morning, we kind of just felt like we're in a better place and everything came - I don't want to say easier, because that sounds too easy - but yeah, it just kind of came a bit more seamlessly so far this weekend.
"It's encouraging, obviously. We did change chassis, [but] I don't want to jump on that yet and be like, it's definitely that. Obviously, we need to prove that over the course of a few races. But yeah, there was obviously something with the change this weekend."

Unfortunately, the Aussie driver got nothing out of the Chinese GP weekend despite feeling the improvement in the VCARB01 due to the incident with Lance Stroll.
