Former Liverpool FC manager Jürgen Klopp is set to join Red Bull in 2025 as the global head of soccer, overseeing the various clubs under the team's banner. Klopp recently concluded his successful managerial tenure with 'The Reds' and will commence his new role on January 1, 2025.

Apart from a championship-winning F1 team, the global energy drinks brand owns RB Leipzig in the German Bundesliga, a Salzburg franchise in Austria, a New York franchise in Major League Soccer, and Red Bull Bragantino in Brazil. The brand also recently acquired a minority stake in Leeds United.

F1 TV presenter Will Buxton shared the news on X (formerly Twitter) and commented on the seismic shift in the football world. He suggested that the 57-year-old legendary soccer manager would have made a capable F1 team boss.

"Jürgen Klopp will join Red Bull on January 1, 2025 As head of global soccer. Reckon he’d have made a decent F1 team boss mind you." his post read.

Jürgen Klopp began his managerial career with Mainz 05 before leading Borussia Dortmund. He joined Liverpool FC in 2015 and stepped down from his duties following the 2023-24 season. In his new role with Red Bull, Klopp will concentrate on supporting directors, mentoring coaches, and scouting talent across the team's global network of clubs.

Red Bull Racing fans are thrilled by the recent signing and will hope to see the 57-year-old trackside at F1 race weekends. Amid the Austrian brand's continued expansion in football, its F1 team is losing ground in the championship fight, with McLaren holding a 41-point advantage over the reigning champions with six rounds remaining in the 2024 season.

Max Verstappen remains winless since meeting with Red Bull's soccer team

In May 2024, Leeds United announced that Red Bull had acquired a minority stake in the team and was also named the front-of-shirt sponsor. Reigning F1 champion Max Verstappen was photographed with LUFC captain Ethan Ampadu and other players during the British GP weekend in early July.

Some F1 fans are now wondering if Verstappen has been jinxed by Leeds United, as he has not won a race since meeting the LUFC players. He is on an eight-race winless streak.

Max Verstappen's last victory dates back to the Spanish GP in June. Since then he has finished on the podium three times, while Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri, and Lewis Hamilton have each won two races. Charles Leclerc and George Russell have each won a single race in the time frame.

The downturn in performance is hurting Verstappen's bid for his fourth F1 title. With six rounds left in the season, the Dutchman is 52 points ahead of his nearest rival Lando Norris. The team's highly-anticipated upgrades for the United States Grand Prix are expected to put Verstappen back in contention for victories.
