Three-time Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen and Kelly Piquet have been in a relationship since 2021. The Dutchman shared a cute anecdote about why Piquet's daughter, Penelope Kvyat, calls their new cat "donut."

The daughter of Brazilian racer and triple F1 world champion Nelson Piquet, Kelly, was in a relationship with former Russian F1 racer Daniil Kvyat before dating Verstappen. The couple welcomed Penelope in July 2019. However, Piquet and Kyvat split soon after the birth of their daughter. By the end of 2020, Piquet met Verstappen and the duo have been together since then.

Apart from Piquet, Verstappen also shares a special relationship with Penelope. She is regularly seen during Red Bull driver's streaming sessions. During a recent fan interaction, the 27-year-old racer shared why Penelope calls their new cat 'Donut.'

"What's his real name?" the fan questioned.
"It's like Donatello or Donut...Yeah, well, yeah, Penelope calls him Donut because it's easier, right" Verstappen replied.

A video of the aforementioned interaction was shared on X by a Verstappen fan. Here's a look at the post, captioned:

"Donatello verstappen!!! the new cat!! donut for short. adorable!!!"

Apart from being on Verstappen's streams, Penelope is also seen in Red Bull's garage, cheering on the Dutchman.

"Brazil was a very welcome victory for us after a while, but this is again very different" - Max Verstappen on the chance of becoming a four-time champion in Las Vegas

Although there are three races left before the 2024 season concludes, Max Verstappen stands a chance to become a four-time champion during the Las Vegas weekend. With a difference of 62 points between him and his title rival Lando Norris, the Red Bull driver can mathematically become the champion.

All Verstappen needs to do is finish ahead of Norris in the Sin City to win the crown. Meanwhile, for Norris to stay in contention, the young Briton needs to outperform the Dutchman by at least three points. If both fail to finish the race, Verstappen will eventually be crowned the 2024 champion.

"I just want to focus on the weekend and try to have a good performance. Brazil was a very welcome victory for us after a while, but this is again very different. I’m just looking forward to the weekend. Three races left, you’re getting close to the end of the season and it’s looking good in the championship but we still need to score a lot of points so we’ll just focus on that," Verstappen said (as reported by CNN).
"Once we are doing that then you get closer to the end result. Of course, the target is to win the championship," he added.

If things work in favor of Verstappen, he will become the sixth racer to win four or more championships after Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher, Juan Manuel Fangio, Alain Prost, and Sebastian Vettel.
