For the last four seasons, Mercedes-AMG's drivers have been predominantly seen wearing black-colored racing overalls. However, for the upcoming Qatar Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell will be seen donning the classic white-colored racing suits.

Since the team's return to Formula 1 in 2010, Mercedes-AMG drivers have donned a white racing suit. However, with Hamilton at the forefront of the 'Black Lives Matter' campaign, the Brackley-based team decided to join the anti-racism and anti-discrimination campaigns under F1's 'We Race As One' by using the now-iconic black livery with all-black racing suits from the 2020 season onward (the team switched to silver livery for 2023, but the suits remained unchanged).

However, ahead of the Qatar Grand Prix, both Hamilton and Russell will be seen in white-colored racing suits throughout the weekend. This move is likely being done as a PR engagement activity for one of the team's primary sponsors IWC Schaffhausen. Pictures of the Mercedes duo in white suits with the new range of watches from the luxury watchmaker were shared on Instagram:

Apart from the above-mentioned IG post, images of Hamilton and Russell wearing the new suits at the Lusail International Circuit in Qatar were shared on X by a Hamilton and Mercedes-AMG fan page.

With two races to go in the 2024 season, Russell and Hamilton are placed sixth and seventh in the drivers' championship with 217 and 208 points respectively.

"I'm happy to take responsibility as the older guy" - When Lewis Hamilton took the blame for crash with George Russell at the 2023 Qatar Grand Prix

Despite starting P2 and P3, the Mercedes-AMG duo George Russell and Lewis Hamilton had a messy start for the 2023 Qatar Grand Prix. The seven-time world champion, who DNFed in the race, took responsibility for the crash that cost the German team a few crucial points in the season.

During the post-race media interaction, Hamilton clarified the situation (via Sky Sports).

"I think we are a great team. George and I still have a great relationship. We will discuss things and work away. I'm happy to take responsibility as the older guy. I don't think George had anywhere to go at that point. I was trying to get ahead of both of them and just an unfortunate situation. I had the worst tire of everyone around me, so I needed to try and get ahead. Big risk, big penalty."
"So this is definitely unfortunate and I'm sure he was frustrated in the moment like I was. But we will talk about it offline and we move forwards. As I said, just apologies to all of the team," Lewis Hamilton added.

With the 2024 Qatar Grand Prix set to take place this weekend, both Hamilton and Russell will likely be looking forward to avoid the mistake from last season.
