After facing problems in the last three races, reigning Formula 1 champion Red Bull Racing is set to bring a few key upgrades to the Canadian Grand Prix. In addition to Montreal, the Austrian team has new components scheduled for the Spanish Grand Prix.
Having dominated the 2023 season, Red Bull began the year on a high note by finishing 1-2 in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Japan. However, with its rivals Scuderia Ferrari and McLaren bringing crucial upgrade packages, the Milton-Keynes-based outfit faced problems in Australia, Miami, Emilia Romagna, and Monaco.
Ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix this weekend, Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko has admitted that the team sees a challenging race for the 2024 title. Speaking about the update situation with Matthias Janisch of Kleine Zeitung, Marko said:
"There is a problem with us, we have now finally noticed it. We will see when we find a solution. There will only be new parts on the car in Barcelona"
Due to significant updates being delayed this year, Marko anticipates a fierce battle with Ferrari and Charles Leclerc. However, with unpredictable weather expected during the upcoming race weekend, the former Austrian F1 driver is hoping Max Verstappen will shine over his competitors.
Red Bull Racing has brought in a revised rear wing, which features a reprofiled flap that spans across the entire width. The refreshed wing is designed to optimize flap geometry without compromising the stability of airflow. The team has also enlarged front-brake cooling exit ducts to aid reliability.

Here's a look at Red Bull Racing's performance during the 2024 Miami and Monaco Grand Prix
Problems for Red Rull Racing first surfaced in Miami. During both the Sprint race and qualifying session, both drivers, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez faced difficulty outpacing the Ferrari and McLaren duos.
This issue was further highlighted during the race. While Verstappen managed to lead the entire opening stint, he fell behind Lando Norris during the safety car period. After that, the triple world champion was unable to catch up with Norris. Further adding to his woes was the underfloor damage that his RB20 sustained when he hit a bollard. Perez, on the other hand, was defending against the fast-advancing Carlos Sainz Jr after the safety car period.
At Monaco, both drivers were finding it difficult to place the RB20 race car in the right spots, thereby ruining their Free Practice (FP) as well as Qualifying sessions.
With the five lights going out at the Principality, Perez quickly found himself out of the race after a massive lap 1 accident with Kevin Magnussen. Although Verstappen tried to continue the fight, he could not pass the Mercedes-AMG driver George Russell, throughout the 78 laps.
