Red Bull team principal Christian Horner praised his wife Geri Halliwell and his family for their support during the time of the internal investigation. He was alleged to have behaved inappropriately with one of his co-workers.
Earlier this year, Horner went through a tough period after one of the workers at Red Bull Racing accused him of "inappropriate behavior." Two internal investigations followed this up and the Brit was cleared of the allegations. However, that left a deep impact on the team. Key figures such as Adrian Newey are thought to have decided to leave the team following these investigations.
Speaking to The Daily Mail, Horner stated that one becomes a more vulnerable target as they get popular. He said:
"In life, it is a great lesson that the more success you have, the more of a target you become. Anything that can be used to unsettle and destabilise you and the team and the business. What disappointed me more than anything was the steps that people went to in order to try and achieve that."
While this was also thought to have created a difficult situation for him in his personal life, Christian Horner revealed that his wife Geri Halliwell had been very supportive throughout the ordeal. He said:
"I am very fortunate that I have got a tremendous family. My wife has been unbelievable, fantastic. Your partner is always the one you share your difficulties with. She has been absolutely outstanding and hugely supportive."
Christian Horner also faced a tough time with the team as they lost their dominance over the course of the 2024 F1 season. Red Bull remained winless for 10 rounds and dropped to third place in the WCC. At the same time, however, Max Verstappen remained quite consistent and managed to seal his fourth World Championship in Las Vegas.
Christian Horner reveals Max Verstappen's biggest strength
Max Verstappen became a four-time Formula 1 World Champion after finishing P5 in Las Vegas. This gave him enough of an edge over McLaren's Lando Norris to seal the title. His victories early in the season gave him a headstart and consistent performances kept him in the lead of the WCC.
The Dutchman has been bringing the most points to the team since the 2021 season when he won his first title. Discussing his strengths, team principal Christian Horner said that his mental resilience helps Verstappen deliver even during the toughest situations. He said (via The Sportsrush):
"Just his mental strength. That mental resilience, the big-point moments. Like any great sportsman, it’s always when the pressure is really on to deliver. And that is where he has been absolutely outstanding."
Verstappen is set to continue with Red Bull in 2025. He has a contract with the Milton Keynes-based outfit till the 2028 season. However, a new teammate has been speculated as Sergio Perez's performance has been extremely subpar.
