Yuki Tsunoda of Japan and Scuderia AlphaTauri looks on on the grid prior to the F1 Grand Prix of Miami

F1 fans have unanimously praised the Red Bull Junior and AlphaTauri driver Yuki Tsunoda for his efforts to extend help to the locals of Faenza.

Amidst the recent flooding in the Emilia Romagna region of Italy, the sport decided to cancel the Imola GP given the conditions. Faenza, a small town near the Imola circuit is the home of the Scuderia AlphaTauri team. The team has its factory and operates from the region.

However, the region got flooded due to heavy rainfall in the last couple of weeks. Tsunoda, who was present in Faenza, helped the locals by cleaning the streets and doing his bit along with his teammates to bring back normalcy to the area.

Many F1 fans took to their social media platforms to praise the Japanese driver's efforts, with one even claiming that he was a hero, saying:

"Some heroes don’t wear capes"

Here are some more reactions:

"I struggled a bit, but I'm still learning differently" - Yuki Tsunoda

The Japanese driver replied to the comments made by AlphaTauri Team Principal Franz Tost about his learning curve and how the new ground effect cars were easier to drive.

Speaking to Motorsport Italy, he said:

“I think Franz [Tost] was referring to understanding the car. I struggled a bit, but I'm still learning differently. I think last year I was probably okay, I think I raced on par, maybe more in dry conditions, especially compared to Pierre [Gasly].
"In terms of performance that can be extracted from a car, certainly, the more years go by the simpler it becomes. But yes, the third year, it will be useful, but at the same time I think these cars will also help the rookies, they have 18-inch tires and it is not as fast as a 2021 car. It is very different.
"And I think the 2021 car is a lot harder to push to the limit, which I've heard, while this car is a bit more controllable, so maybe that helps."

Yuki Tsunoda added:

“Yes, definitely [I feel more of a leader]. And I think I have to be, especially since it's my third year and because we've lost Pierre, [they] want someone to trust. And I have to be one of those people who can give a new impetus, especially now that we are having some performance difficulties."

It will be interesting to see how many points will Yuki Tsunoda score in the 2023 season given his recent performances.
