Sergey Sirotkin: Ready to do well in F1

F1 Grand Prix of Germany - Race

Sauber F1 car, 2013

Sergey Sirotkin, who is to be groomed by Sauber for a possible 2014 debut, is all set to become the youngest driver to compete in an F1 race.

“Nobody is arguing that it (his grand prix debut) is not coming early but it’s not a chance you get every day,” Sirotkin said.

The Russian will break Jaime Alguersuari’s record of being the youngest rookie to race if he manages to convince the Sauber bosses to give him a driver’s seat next season.

Speaking about the opportunity, Sirotkin said: “Very many would agree that when the opportunity comes, you are stupid not to use it. I do not deny that I would be better prepared by spending another season in the (Renault) World Series, but I have this chance and it should be used because it may be my last.”

Sauber will groom Sirotkin as a part of their deal with its new Russian sponsors.
