Formula 1: Sutil looking to catch Paul and Others

Force India Driver Adrain Sutil

Force India driver Adrian Sutil has said that he is determined to challenge his teammate Paul Di Resta who always have an upper hand especially in the qualifying session against him. Paul who is in his debut session has outpaced his much experienced teammate Adrian Sutil in almost all the qualifying sessions.

Out of the nine qualifying sessions in this season Paul has outpaced Sutil 7 times and also made the Q3 appearance couple of times compared to Sutil’s one time. Sutil has said that he wants to improve his qualifying pace as ten more races are yet to come.

However, Sutil is ahead of his teammate in championship standing. Adrian is standing with 10 points and his best finish is in Monaco where he finished on 7th place. On the other hand Paul has scored just 2 points in the first two races of the season however, his and Force India’s best qualifying position in this season is scored by Paul at Silverstone where he qualified at 6th position.

Adrian has said that he can do better in a one lap run, he said that in the past few races he was not in good shape and was suffering from multiple reasons. He said that he had problems with tyres and other things and added that he was just 100th of a second behind Di Resta.

As reported by bettor.com Adrian said:

I can do better, I was not in good shape sometimes and had problems with tyres and other things with the car. Sometimes it was just not enough and I was just 100th of a second behind him, but at the end of the year you just look at and say in this qualifying I lost against him that’s how it is.

Apart from his teammate’s challenge Adrian is also looking to outpace his rivals. The race pace of Force India is looking very promising but, Force India is currently laying on 8th place ahead Williams. Inspite of the good race pace of Adrian and strong qualifying of Paul Force India is running short of luck and that is the reason they are in this position.

However, Adrian belives that his team is capable and competitive and the season is not over and Force India can improve. In the remaining 10 races which also includes their home race in India.

There is still a long way to go, my races have gone much better so I think I can shine most of the time and score the points and that’s what it’s all about in the end and the most important thing.

Adrian needs to improve his single lap performance because Force India is set to shuffle his lineup and Adrian will be under the scanner because Dr, Vijay Mallya has already said that Force India is set to retain Paul Di Resta. Nico Hulkenberg Force India reserve and test driver is already looking for a race seat in Force India in 2012.
